El Puente
The bridge over the canal which gives access to the Mar Menor (Spain).
This bridge is a very high tech piece of kit, designed and installed by a German company and boasting a space age control tower. Nevertheless, it tends to spend at least one weekend each August in a state of disrepair. Sometimes it jams open, trapping people, in their cars, on the north side of the spit, and sometimes it jams shut, preventing any masted vessels from leaving the port and denying access to home-bound yachts. All in all, "el puente" is quite a talking point!
