Ghost of Apuldram Village Buy

The church of St Mary's is still standing, but of the village of Apuldram there is no trace at all. This painting was based on extensive research at the County Record Office but, when all is said and done, is largely conjectural.
Old documents prove beyond any doubt that there was, in mediaeval times, a village consisting of some 20 or 30 dwellings. We know the names of the householders, and we know that some of their homes were on the plot of land shown in this painting. But we will never know what the buildings looked like. We can only imagine.... and as we wander down the church footpath we can believe that their ghosts are hovering round-about.
