Anchored off St Helena
A little wooden cutter lying at anchor off the island of St Helena, in the South Atlantic. Behind her the hills of the coast are barren brown pyramids printed on the blue cloth of the sky, but we also catch a glimpse of the mountains in the interior, and these are quite lush.
When man first found this place, in 1502, the coast was also verdant. But he introduced goats.
