Caravaca de la Cruz
The town of Caravaca de la Cruz lies spread out beneath the castle. It is in the castle stronghold that the Vera Cruz, or relic of the True Cross is kept. To the right of the castle (at the centre of the picture) is the principal church.
The "barrio antiguo", or old quarter, lies all around the church and is typical of any Spanish town; it consists of narrow streets, many of which are scarcely wide enough to allow the passage of a car.
The town has grown considerably in the past forty or fifty years, and wide new roads and concrete buildings sprawl out from the heart.
