Ayuntamiento
La Vila Joiosa has long since outgrown its ancient "casco antiguo", or old town. It now sprawls along the coast road and up towards the autopista; it has a railway station, three chocolate factories, a big market place, a library, and all the other amenities of a modern Spanish town, including a wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars. Nevertheless, the town council - or ayuntamiento -still meets in the quaint and picturesque old quarter.
