Beating the Bounds
On the day sacred to their patron saint the people of La Villa Joiosa parade around the boundaries of the old town, singing prayers in Latin and filling the air with incense.
The priest walking under the canopy bears a small gold cross, and the ones in white (at the centre of the photograph) carry the holy sacraments in their silver chalice and paten.
