Capture the Castle
The "Cristianos" recapture the castle from the "Moros".
This is the climatic moment in the Moros y Cristianos festival; after hundreds of years of struggle the natives have finally succeeded in casting off the yoke of foreign domination. Alcoy boasts what is probably the biggest "toy castle" in the business, and on one occasion it boasted the biggest fiasco; in one year the Moors refused to vacate the seat of power at the due moment, and all hell broke loose.
