Casco Antiguo (1)
The old tenement blocks in the "casco antiguo", or old town, gaze out towards the sea through the feathery fronds of date palms. According to the locals, the houses were always brightly coloured; they were daubed with whatever was left over after the fishing fleet had been painted, each man giving his boat and his abode the same livery. (If you believe that... you'll swallow a good many other Spanish folk tales too.)
