Ruesta was built to the same design that the Iberian people have been following since prehistoric times. The houses all cling to one another on a rocky headland, and there is only one point of access. In the case of Ruesta, the gateway was overlooked by a solid, fortress like church. As if that were not enough, at the far end of the village there is a castle.

This must have been a fabulous village - but now it is so ruinous that one dare not even walk amongst the buildings. The narrow streets and alleys are overgrown with weeds and choked with the debris of fallen walls. Thirty years ago this place must have been fascinating to explore. A lifetime ago it must have been a thriving concern.
