Ampitheatres Buy

On the right of this photo, in the distance, are the remains of a Roman ampitheatre. For centuries it lay buried and forgotten under the buildings of later civilisations: first the Visigoths, then the Moors, and afterwards the more recent inhabitants of the town of Cartagena all had houses or other buildings on this same site.
After the Roman remains were rediscovered the council of Cartagena decided to build, alongside them, a modern open-air theatre, and this occupies the foreground of the photograph.
