Bosham Church, from the Gosport shore
Bosham church is Saxon in origin. It was built, probably by Earl Godwine, in the time of King Canute.
As if this were not sufficient claim to fame, the village can also claim to be the site of the oldest Christian place of worship in all Sussex. Here it was that Wilfrid, bishop of York and saint-to-be, found one Dicul, a monk, preaching The Word of God to the heathen natives.
