Stag Beetle (Female)
This stag beetle was found trundling across a footpath.
People talk about stag beetles as if there were only one kind. There are actually 1,200. This one was living in Southern England, which narrows the field somewhat. Her wing cases have a slightly blueish tinge, whereas the Big Daddy of English stag beetles is brownish.
