Door and Steddle
The jettied upper storey of an Elizabethan timber-framed house throws interesting shadows on the wall below.
To the left of the door is an old steddle - a stone mushroom whose purpose here is purely whimsical. It will originally have served, perhaps with seven others, to
hold a granary above the ground and away from the attentions of rats and mice.
