Several of the towns in south-western Spain celebrate annually the mediaeval Renconquista - the reconquest of Iberia by its indigenous people. These celebrations take the form of elaborate processions of people dressed either as "Moros" (Arab Moors) or "Cristianos" (native Christians).

This photograph shows a group of "christian" soldiers parading down the high street in red velvet bodices, gold satin corsets, and fancy plumed helmets.
