King Penguins
King Penguin colony in the Falkland Islands. These penguins are brooding eggs, which they keep under a fold of feathered flesh on top of their toes. Although they appear to be crowded together the birds are, in fact, very carefully spaced. If a bird so much as leans his head away from his own little patch, his neighbour will start to trumpet in complaint. Thus, this is quite a noisy place!
(Note: For "his head" read, either his or hers; both parents take part in the incubation process.)
