Asphodel fistulosus (Onion Weed)
Asphodel fistulosus is a member of the alium, or onion, family and goes by the English name of onion weed. It is indigenous to the Mediterranean region but has also been spread further afield and carried across the ocean to North America. Here it is considered to be a "noxious plant", and attempts are made to bring about is eradication.
The leaves of this plant are poisonous, but it is attractive to look at and does not have an offensive odour.
