Dug-out Canoe Sailing
Another photo of one of the dug-out canoes which operates a ferry service on the Rio Geba. This one has crossed from the town and is arriving on the far side of the river. The sky is blue - at least to the south - and it seems that the boat will complete its journey without encountering a squall.
Watching a ferry race an approaching squall is both entertaining and, in the last few moments, quite alarming. One wonders how many ferries capsize while their crew are hurrying to complete the passage. And one doubts whether any of the hapless people aboard the boat can swim.
